Sometimes we see these great designs and we wonder how they are the achieved. Or maybe we want a product but we’re short on money or don’t have the time to go and buy it because we’re in a hurry. There are plenty of nail polish tricks that can help you and make your job a lot easier. You can find some of these items around your house.
1. The makeup sponge for a gradient effect
An easy way to get a gradient or ombre design would be by using a makeup sponge. All you have to do is to apply your favorite polishes on that sponge and then dab it onto your nails. Simple, effective and easy. You can use any color combinations you desire. For example, you can use red and black for a vampire nail design, or black and white for a classy one. If you feel extra jolly you can add some glitter. It is up to you.
2. DIY Matte Nail Polish
If you really want to get that matte effect but don’t have time to go and buy a matte nail polish, you can always use one of these nail polish tricks. Add some crushed eye shadow into your top coat and mix it really well. Yes, you’re read that right. Or you can add corn starch to your clear coat, mix it and apply. Create a glitter line to hide the imperfections and give it a fresh look. Nobody will suspect that you tried to hide something. This is one of nail polish tricks you must know. Add your favorite top coat and you’re ready to shine.
6. Splattered Nail Design
If you want a splattered nail design you only need a straw. Apply your base color and let it dry. Then add some product on one side of your straw. Blow on the other end and onto your nails and you’ll get your splattered design. You can create a Halloween look by using a white base coat and a red for the blood effect. Or you can create something more colorful. Your nails can be your canvas. Make sure to protect your skin with liquid latex because it can get a little messy. Finish off with a top coat.
7. Use a Sharpie

10. Scotch Tape to the rescue
If you really like those perfect lines on your nails but have no clue how to get them, take out your scotch tape from the drawer and start creating your design. Apply your base color, add the scotch tape and create the design you desire: lines, geometric, half plus half. Add polish and a topcoat and you’re ready to go.
